      Stored Energy Systems (SENS) is a Colorado-based designer and manufacturer in mission-critical environments like data centers, hospitals, utilities, and telecommunications networks. For more than 50 years, SENS has reduced operational risk by engineering reliability at the system level, helping customers simplify infrastructure and protect uptime.

      Half a century of innovation

       

      1971

      Founded in Silicon Valley by battery industry veteran Herb Kaewert to fill industry need for high-performance battery chargers.

      1980s

      Extended product line to industrial DC power supplies and standardized genset battery chargers.

      1990s

      Relocated to Colorado to support expansion. Herb’s son Bill Kaewert assumed day-to-day operations, driving growth through lean manufacturing principles. 

      2000s

      Became a major supplier to large OEMs; NRG and IQ became critical power industry’s toughest battery chargers.

      2010s

      Adopted switch mode power conversion technology.

      2020s

      Introduced integrated engine starting and complete DC power systems leveraging the newest battery technologies. Added battery monitoring technology to the product portfolio. Developing advanced solutions to meet the demanding needs of data centers.

He leads technical strategy and innovation in industrial battery chargers and DC systems, with expertise in engineering management, product design, and regulatory compliance.
