SENS Announces Industry-Leading Best Battery Selector Line
Critical for high-availability standby power applications such as genset starting in data centers and process manufacturing plants
September 5, 2007, Longmont, Colorado – SENS (Stored Energy Systems) today announced its new line of automatic best battery selectors (BBS), designed for mission critical standby power applications. SENS’ BBS units automatically deliver power from two sets of batteries to one or two loads, typically genset starting motors, while isolating the battery sets from each other. So, in case one battery fails, power from the other automatically flows to the load. Because the batteries are isolated from one another, a failed battery in one set will not cause the other battery to fail.
Consulting and specifying engineers are increasingly calling for best battery selectors in mission critical applications, such as standby generator starting for data centers. Only SENS is offering a line of best battery selectors that is engineered and tested to meet the most demanding specifications. SENS has carefully characterized all the parameters of its BBS products, helping systems builders ensure their applications will perform to spec. SENS tests each unit individually to ensure that it meets its specified performance.
Two models, covering a wide range of power requirements, are available. The BBS-1600 supports a peak current load of 1300 amps and is primarily used for starting mid-range gensets. The BBS-4800 supports a peak current load of 3750 amps, and is used primarily for starting large gensets (typically 2-megawatts and larger). The 1600 and 4800 are also suitable for continuous load applications such as electrical switchgear.
Both models are available immediately. Click on the link below for BBS product details. Contact SENS or your manufacturers’ representative for more information and to get a quotation.
